David Rabin

Public Affairs Programmer

David Rabin is a dedicated public affairs programmer at WPFW who believes in building a better world, one broadcast at a time. A long-time member of the station family, David's connection to 89.3 FM began in the mid-1990s while he was working for Pacifica Network News, which was housed in the same building as WPFW. He fondly remembers his first direct contact with the station being Askia Muhammad, WPFW's beloved News Director, who would walk through the PNN offices passing out birthday cake to the staff.

David eventually transitioned from a neighbor in the building to an on-air personality, starting as a substitute host for several programs before establishing his own show. Over the years, he has become known for his compelling and high-impact interviews with figures who have shaped American history and advocacy. Some of his most memorable broadcasts have featured conversations with consumer advocate Ralph Nader, Tuskegee Airman Charles McGee, and Freedom Rider Charles Person. He has also used his program to explore deep systemic issues, such as discussing the history of enforced racial segregation with author Richard Rothstein.

Driven by a passion for community service, David views his role as a way to provide listeners with essential information that they might not find in mainstream media. He remains committed to using the power of the microphone to inform, support, and strengthen the community he serves.
